Our Practice
Southern Cal Smiles
Southern Cal Smiles is part of a medical building in the heart of the Warner Center in Woodland Hills, CA near Calabasas. When patients enter our practice, they will be warmly greeted by a staff member in our reception area.
Each treatment room utilizes technology to help patients understand our care and feel more comfortable during their appointment. Southern Cal Smiles uses both digital x-rays and intraoral cameras to better detect problems with minimal radiation exposure.
Dr. Fredericks meets with patients in our private consultation rooms, where she can review radiographs and intraoral imaging to explain areas of concern and develop the patient's best treatment plan.

Susan Fredericks

Meet Dr. Fredericks
Dr. Susan Fredericks is a board-certified dentist who is proud to provide general, cosmetic, and restorative dental services. She commonly works with patients from West San Fernando Valley, Calabasas, and the Los Angeles area at her practice, Southern Cal Smiles, in Woodland Hills, CA.
Dr. Fredericks graduated from both undergraduate and dental school at UCLA, which is ranked in the top five dental schools in the United States. Over the last 30 years, she has had extensive continuing education in all phases of dentistry.

Skills and Specialties
Dr. Fredericks offers a variety of sophisticated cosmetic dental procedures including teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, teeth straightening with Invisalign, dental bonding and contouring, and smile makeovers. She also provides restorative dentistry treatment options, such as dental implants and full-mouth reconstruction. Her general and advanced dentistry services range from routine dental cleanings and tooth-colored fillings to root canal therapy and treatments for TMJ disorder.
Education and Training
A Southern California native, Dr. Fredericks earned all of her degrees from the University of California in Los Angeles. Starting with an undergraduate degree in biology, Dr. Fredericks then earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.). To better treat her patients, she went back to UCLA to earn a Master's degree in Public Health. She routinely attends local and national dentistry conferences, including most educational conferences held by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr. Fredericks has stayed extremely current with new advances and technology in dentistry. She has outstanding relationships with specialist providers and is one of the few dentists in California who does professional reviews for the California Dental Board.

Volunteer Service
Dr. Fredericks has been a volunteer faculty member for the past six years at the UCLA School of Dentistry and takes students regularly to the MEND Clinic in Pacoima. The clinic provides dental services to patients who have very low incomes and to the homeless. She has also taken students to Honduras several times to provide care for people with no access to dental services. She is on the Board of Directors of MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity), UCLA Dental School, and West Hills Hospital.
Personal Life
Dr. Fredericks lives in Calabasas with her husband. Since she loves her job, Dr. Fredericks strongly recommended healthcare careers to her children and they actually listened to her! Her daughter Danielle is a 2016 UCLA dental school graduate who is currently pursuing a career in oral surgery, and her son Brett is a medical student in Chicago.

Kelli
Appointment Coordinator
Kelli is our warm and welcoming Appointment Coordinator. Kelli has been in dentistry for over 30 years. She grew up in West Los Angeles but has been living in the valley with her husband most of her adult life. She is an incredible animal lover and has at least two dogs in her life at all times. She loves working in her garden and outdoors and taking long walks on the weekends with her husband and dogs.
Maria
Dental Assistant
Maria is our experienced and dedicated dental assistant. She prides herself on ensuring your visit goes smoothly! Maria obtained her RDA license in 2013 and has been in the dental field for 24 years. She joined our team in 2017 and has been a pleasure to work with. She is friendly, compassionate, and caring. She and Dr. Fredericks are such a great team working together to give our patients the best treatment as possible.
