Over the last 30 years, she has had extensive continuing education in all phases of dentistry. At Southern Cal Smiles, Dr. Fredericks helps her patients with preventative and general dental services that improve their oral health, as well as cosmetic treatments that give them pride and confidence in their smile. She also uses her years of experience and knowledge to help patients with complex cases that may require dental implants, periodontal treatments, and other advanced procedures. At both Southern Cal Smiles and her volunteer work, Dr. Fredericks boasts a strong commitment to improving the health of her patients and the community.
Skills and Specialties
Dr. Fredericks offers a variety of sophisticated cosmetic dental procedures. These include teeth whitening for patients who would like to improve the look of stained, discolored teeth and porcelain veneers to correct minor imperfections on the surface of teeth. Other cosmetic treatments she performs are teeth straightening with Invisalign, dental bonding and contouring to improve minor flaws, and smile makeovers for those who want multiple cosmetic dental treatments. Dr. Fredericks also provides restorative dentistry treatment options, such as dental implants to replace one or more missing teeth and full-mouth reconstruction.
Although many individuals visit Southern Cal Smiles for cosmetic and restorative dentistry procedures, one of Dr. Fredericks’ top priorities is helping her patients achieve or maintain good oral health. To this end, she offers general and advanced dentistry services, which range from routine dental cleanings and tooth-colored fillings to root canal therapy and treatments for TMJ disorder.
Education and Training
A Southern California native, Dr. Fredericks earned all of her degrees from the University of California in Los Angeles. Dr. Fredericks enjoys her career as a dentist, but also feels very strongly about giving back to the community. The clinic provides dental services to patients who have very low incomes and to the homeless. She has also taken students to Honduras several times to provide care for people with no access to dental services. She is on the Board of Directors of MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity), UCLA Dental School, and West Hills Hospital.
Dr. Fredericks lives in Calabasas with her husband. Since she loves her job, Dr. Fredericks strongly recommended healthcare careers to her children and they actually listened to her! Her daughter Danielle is a 2016 UCLA dental school graduate who is currently pursuing a career in oral surgery, and her son Brett is a medical student in Chicago.
"What an amazing experience!"
"My experience with Dr. Susan Fredericks and staff was incredible. From the moment I walked in they made me feel welcomed and a priority. This October my veneers are one year old and I couldn't be happier. Dr. Fredericks gave me the smile I asked for. She truly listened to what I wanted and gave me my dream smile. I can't thank her and her incredible staff enough. Thank you all for making a life long dream come true."
"THE ABSOLUTE BEST DENTIST AND STAFF! From the moment you walk in you are greeted like they have known you all your life. Always w a warm and friendly smile! They are prompt, never make you wait, and Dr. fredericks cosmetic work is paralleled to none. I recently had a minor issue w my composites that lasted me a solid 2 years, i called the office, they set me up w an appt within two days and she fixed the problem for free. All along making me laugh while sitting in the chair! No dentist has come close to the care she and her staff have shown me!!!"
"Best dentist and staff! I always get a great cleaning and answers to all my questions. Everyone is very friendly and I always come out with a great smile by both the cleaning and good humor!"
"I rarely write reviews, but I am really just blown away by my entire experience here. First of all, Doctor Fredericks (Susan) is the best dentist that I have ever been to. That has to be said right off the bat. SHE IS AMAZING!!! I'm pretty sure most of us dread going to the dentist and I'm so glad that the entire office just has their stuff together. I can't begin to tell you how I have hated every single dentist I've ever gone to. When I first arrived, I was greeted by front-desk Susan (not to be confused with Doctor Susan). Office Manager/Front-desk Susan is extremely professional, kind, and caring. Exactly the type of person you want to talk to right before seeing the dentist. Especially if you are nervous! She is just awesome. When I went into my first visit, Doctor Fredericks started a plan on how to get me to where I need to be with my overall dental hygiene health. I had a major root canal done and I could barely feel the needle. Doctor Fredericks actually cares about your pain and is aware that you are a human being that just might be uncomfortable. Becky went over the numbers with me and was very clear about the cost. I FINALLY found my dentist and I'm so happy and relieved. I highly recommend Doctor Fredericks. The overall cost isn't super cheap, but since when is dental work cheap? It's also not too expensive. Just know that your teeth are a part of you, and it's in your best interest to take care of yourself. At least, that's what I tell myself each time I improve my dental health while paying the visit bill. It's 100% worth it. Thank you so much Doctor Fredericks. You and your staff are amazing. Don't ever change."
